Mother’s Day gift guide!
Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday, May 8! And since this will be my first year actually being a mother on Mother’s Day, we will definitely be celebrating over here! Here are some gift ideas for the mom in your life:
- Don’t underestimate the value of a heartfelt card telling her all the reasons why she’s an amazing mom!
- A spa treatment, like a mani/pedi or massage! Bonus points if you schedule the appointment for her to ensure that she actually goes. (If you’re in the Copenhagen area, I have personally had great spa experiences at Nimb, Amazing Space at Hotel D’Angleterre, and Marienlyst. I’ve also heard great things about Skodsborg, Take A Break, Aire, and Ni’Mat!)
- Jewelry commemorating her child(ren)! Here are some that I love:
- A necklace with the initials or names of her kid(s), like these, these, or these customizable ones
- A necklace with the zodiac sign of her child, like this one or this one (could be especially fun if they share a zodiac)
- These sweet necklaces made with her child’s fingerprints
- A ring with her child’s name (these are stackable for more than one child!)
- Anything with her child’s birthstone (probably go to a jeweler for real gemstones!)
- Or, you know, any nice jewelry 🙂
- A family photo shoot (scheduled in the future!). Often moms are the ones taking pictures all the time, and so they’re never in pictures with their kids. We had an at-home photo shoot with Ieva Vi when Noah was about 3 months old, and I cherish those pictures so much (some of which you can see here on this post!).
- A nap. Or even better, a night alone at a hotel for some well-deserved, uninterrupted sleep. 😉
- Flowers! Always a nice gesture.
- A “self care” product that she loves but might not buy herself (the good stuff–think Karmameju, Jo Malone, Tromborg…)
- Her favorite fancy sweets (chocolate covered strawberries, chocolates from Peter Beier or Summerbird… again, the good stuff!!)
- Bing & Grøndahl Mother’s Day plate from Royal Copenhagen
- A night off to spend with her girlfriends (dad/partner takes the kids)! She loves her family, but when was the last time she had dinner and drinks with her best friend?
- Clothes or an accessory that you know she’ll like, or maybe a gift card to her favorite store and a few hours to go shopping *by herself*
- Book a fun experience for her, like a class that she would enjoy (maybe art, cooking, or something else creative)
- Ceramic handprints of her kids, like these
- A donation in her name to an organization that helps women/mothers
- Most of all, a lovely day with her family where–and this is the key–she doesn’t have to do any of the planning or prep! Make a brunch reservation (or make brunch at home! Give her breakfast in bed!), plan some activities, get the kid(s) ready, do all the clean up and dishes, and let her just focus on enjoying her day.
Are you celebrating Mother’s Day? Do you have any other great gift ideas for the moms in your life (or yourself, if you are one!)?
All photos on this post were taken by Ieva Vi. They were paid for by me and used with permission 🙂
